Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on October 28, 1967. She was born in Atlanta. Her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer was the first Roberts to arrive in Atlanta. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in the theatre at a young time. In 1952, while an undergraduate at Emory University, he performed in a variety of productions in Atlanta. When he was stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi, he was cast as a soldier in an upcoming play along with Betty Lou Bredemus. In 1955, the couple tied the knot and, in 1956, their son Eric Anthony was born. In 1957 the couple left the military and Walter began his studies at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter began working with Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the couple relocated into Decatur Georgia. In 1964 Walter along with Betty Lou began production on a local Saturday morning children's TV show titled Bum Bum and His Buddies that they funded themselves. They created an Actors and Writers Workshop in the same year, which took six years to complete. They were joined by Lelisa Billingsley (also known as Lisa) as well as Julia (also named Julie) throughout this time.
